New Sign-ups

1/20/2014

This weekend I finally got around to posting the new volunteer sign-ups.  I created sign-ups for the rest of the school year.  If you are interested in helping out in the classroom, please click on the "Volunteers/Donations" tab.  Please let me know if you have any difficulty getting signed up.  As always, I need the most help during centers.  Thank you for your support!

More importantly, I have created sign-ups for SEP conferences which will be on February 10th and 11th.  Please note that on Monday, February 10th there will be no kindergarten. This will allow adequate time for me to be able to meet with 53 families.  I look forward to meeting with each one of you to discuss your child's progress.  Please see the instructions below for the on-line sign-up. Please keep in mind that if you do not sign-up for a time slot, one will be randomly assigned to you next month.

If you click on the picture below, it will take you directly to the on-line scheduler.  Select Rosecrest Elementary and click "Go."  Enter the school password "rosecrest."   Enter your child's student ID number, but if you do not know your child's number, you may search for him/her by using the "Look Up Student Id" button.  You will need to verify your child's birth date and select the teacher you would like to meet with.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break!

In less than two weeks, the second quarter is coming to an end.  This means that the school year is almost half-way over!  This also means that report cards will be coming home very soon.  For the next nine school days, I will be giving around 25 different assessments to your child.  The scores for these assessments will be reflected on the report card.  It will be difficult to test a child who is not at school, so attendance will be very important.  Plus, we all miss your child when he/she is not there, so try to set a goal for perfect attendance (at least for the next week or two).

Last month's goal was knowing all of the letter sounds.  I will get awards to kids who have passed this off by the end of the week.  The goal for the month of January is identifying numbers to 20 and counting with one-to-one correspondence to 20.  To practice at home, have your child practice counting 20 objects.  Things like beans, pennies, buttons, and cereal work great.  Dollar store flash cards are a must.  Click on the link below for some free printable number flash cards.

Important dates to remember this month:

Thursday, January 16th-short schedule day
Friday, January 17th-no school, teacher work day
Monday, January 20th-no school, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

I am glad to be back!  The break went by really fast.  Thank you all so much for the wonderful gifts. My children, my two girls especially, think they should grow up to be teachers because of all of the goodies and gifts from my students around the holidays.  I was very spoiled.  It was very nice to feel so appreciated.
