Hello and welcome to first grade!

We are off to a great start in first grade.  Mrs. Jensen and I have been reviewing kindergarten math and language arts concepts this week.  We will be getting into first grade material soon.  Once we begin our first grade curriculum, you will expect to see a weekly newsletter that explains what we are learning each week in math and language arts.  You will also need to check your child's red homework folder for any math worksheets that come home for additional practice.  Of course, having your child read for 15 minutes each night is a must for first graders!  You will soon see paper books that will come home for your child to practice reading.  I would keep these in a safe place so that your child can reread them to help him/her build reading fluency.

One important event happening this week is picture day.  Picture day at Crestview is Thursday, August 24th.
